چکیده

Elevation-for-latitude substitution offers a tool for studying the influence of temperature and precipitation variability on vegetation structure composition. Understanding how elevation, aspect, slope patterns may help in predicting climate change influences human forest usage developing strategies ensuring sustained provision ecosystem services. However, most ecological studies have been carried out protected areas, leaving areas used by humans to lesser attention. Therefore, we asked impact human-influenced mountain. We measured woody size, richness, composition mountain with plots set systematically four cardinal directions at 100-m elevational intervals from peak, 1900 4200 m above sea level, Hengduan Mountains eastern Himalaya, southwestern China. quantified tree maximum height, basal area, aboveground biomass (AGB), shrub species changed slope. Based generalized linear models, AGB followed unimodal trend along gradients, height area peaking 3100 m, while was highest 3300 somewhat higher southern Basal increased degree. Neither nor richness influenced or According canonical correspondence analysis TWINSPAN classification, elevation north-south orientation were major factors influencing compositions, classified into five types communities. Our results indicated that similar forested as landscapes based literature. forests this are more intensively low middle elevations western slopes, where aridity restricts size AGB, is likely challenge traditional harvesting practices place pressure moving altitudes.

Interactions of Elevation, Aspect, and Slope in Models of Forest Species Composition and Productivity

We present a linear model for the interacting effects of elevation, aspect, and slope for use in predicting forest productivity or species composition. The model formulation we propose integrates interactions of these three factors in a mathematical expression representing their combined effect in terms of a cosine function of aspect with a phase shift and amplitude that change with slope and e...

Vegetation structure and composition in the semi-arid Mapungubwe Cultural Landscape

Mapungubwe Cultural Landscape (MCL) woody vegetation was characterized to establish structural and compositional attributes. Stratified random sampling based on major soil types was used and nine plant variables were measured in 137(20x30) m2 sampling plots; these being genera, species and family names; basal circumference; plant height; depth and diameter of tree canopy; number of s...

رابطه‌ی تنوع زیستی گیاهان با عوامل توپوگرافی در جنگل‌های غرب مازندران،(مطالعه موردی: جنگل پژوهشی دانشگاه تربیت مدرس)

Diversity is one of the most important issues in studies of vegetation ecology. This study was carried out in research forest of Tarbiat Modares University for surveying herbaceous and woody species diversity in relation to topographical factors (altitude, slope and aspect). For this purpose, 48 plots 400 m2 (20×20 m) were established in the region using selective sampling method. Then, the nam...

Vegetation composition and structure of woody plant communities along urban

Urban forests adjacent to interstate corridors are understudied ecosystems across cities. Despite their small area, these forests may be strategically located to provide large ecosystem services due to their ability to act as a barrier against air pollutants and noise as well as to provide flood control. The woody vegetation composition and structure of forests adjacent to urban interstates is ...
